A new way to describe a voice that is high pitched

I know this never fails to make me laugh

Yesterday walking home I found myself giggling for the nth time at people berating their dogs in Shanghainese.

Totally Embarrassed! #632

At Watsons getting some personal care items when I came across roller Deodorants other than Nivea. Somehow thinking the Carlos was near me I exclaimed quite loudly...

"Finally! They have deodorant here!"

I think I was a little tooo excited. Carlos looked away and pretended he didn't know me -_-

Interesting idea about being a spontaneous wordsmith and sortof making poetry hip by calling themselves by a very schnazzy name "Peotry Proleteriat" (what a mouthful, and difficult to spell!)

Quite sad as well though, that words are sold so easily:

Lucky Frost, Neruda all dead liao, if not they sure stab themselves in the back that these people can produce poetry like a factory.

Possible cat names

I know I'm running the risk of forming a HUGE ASS relationship with this kitty, but here goes me listing down possible names for it.

In no order of preference:

1. Bicho - Thing. We have no idea of its gender. But when Carlos first mentioned it I was thinking that it can't be that smelly that he would want to curse it all the time - well, it sounded close enough to Bitch for me to think this could be the spanish version hehe

2. Squeeky - Kitten will probably outgrow this name, but it is quite apt right now given how it cries.

3. Burrito - It was pretty funny to see me trying to wrap the little critter up in attempt to stop it from squirming while I was feeding it. I'm thinking of the food wrap, he's thinking of its spanish translation of 'little donkey'. As expected, I have given up this name.

4. All other possible cartoon cat names e.g. garfield, top cat, felix, Azrael etc. Not my preference though.

5. Fresa - Spanish for strawberry. Sounds quite romantic, and if the vets are right, this could be a winner.

Hopefully in three days time with Carlos fully taking care of kitty, he will be non-allergic to it. And we will get to keep it! My trip couldn't come at a better time! : )

Snooze you! Part 2

DL hit me right in the chest in the middle of the night mumbling that I was watching him choke and not doing anything about it. Turns out his head was stuck in the middle of two pillows!

The second incident happened a few hours later when he woke me up tickling my belly button. It was only this morning that he told me he was dreaming something and not trying to irritate me.

Looks like I have infected him.

Snooze you!

Many of my friends will agree that the greatest invention is the snooze button on the mobile phone. No more waking up rudely and better yet, continue snatching on to driftwoods of sleep.

One morning, I woke up to the trumpets of the snooze alarm and was quite mad. As a physical reaction, instead of snoozing my mobile, I slapped my hand on DL's nose to snooze him. (Although he wasn't making any sounds beside me at that time)

Truth be told, he does need some well-deserved snoozing when he snores or wakes me up from dreams just as I'm about to play with two kittens.

Magic porridge pot does not overfloweth this time

Second time at cooking oats with soy bean was not without mishaps (this shows me to be the most incompetent chef) hahah...but at least I did not overestimate the oatmeal and cause a 'magic porridge pot' incident.

The last time I was thinking that 'oh the oatmeal is so tiny, we're not going to be filled at all.' Which promptly made me decide to liberally add scoops more. Little did I know that these oat bastards actually absorb liquids and decided to torture me by expanding themselves causing a huge pot of oat. Making me swear off them quite a while after eating it that time!

Must have happened to Paul Galdone as well, who is male and can not possibly cook (yay to stereotypes to make me feel better); who made up the secret magic words to make the clean up more palatable to whoever was cleaning up after him.

This is as rare as it gets...pink hippos falling out of the sky

Poke. "Look! She looks hot!" as I gestured towards a shapely woman in black gliding through the streets, her long hair and perfect makeup enhanced features. It wasn't just that the way she dressed; it was the way she walked, her soft curls bounced and the way her classic black dress stood out among the multitudes of wrongly matched textures and colours.

The only reply I got was "oh she looks nice".

"No no! Look again, she looks really good!" as I tried fervently to get his agreement.

Then it struck me how strange it sounded that I was trying my best to convince him that another woman was hot. heh.

Drag and drop

Am so obsessed over re-arranging photos on my now pro flickr account! If only everything can be organized drag and drop. Drag and drop file and paper on various part of desk. Fold clothes function then drag and drop into closet, double click on trinket drag into closet and it will miraculously fall into a tiny crevice that is easy for me to find.

Alas, peeling potatoes call out to me because it is picnic day tomorrow! Am mixing potato, egg, tuna and pesto. Jamie Olivia at your service any day...improvisation (and realsimple.com) is my mantra.

Dance classes & animals

Been attending dance classes with my colleagues and now I know why many dances are named after animals that's because I vary from looking like a:

1) gorrila - hanging hands and trying to bounce to the rhythm
2) crab - shifting two steps to the left in 1 beat
3) flailing flamingo - the finishing hand movement of punching fists

It has been good exercise and very fun and not as easy as it looks. Plus it is very liberating because you try to control your leg at the same time imitate hip hop sey (translation from Singlish: stylized moves). There's really time for your brain to react and tell you to be embarrassed . No wonder cultures that are rooted in dance are so expressive and happy, they look at each other dance weird and laugh.

Nytimes is my psychic!

While one of my bosses waits for her horoscope reader to reveal her next steps in her career, NYtimes has taken upon the role to appoint herself my resident psychic. No faster had I had the same conversation with DL about priorities, work crazies, frantic appointments with people and personal projects; Nytimes publishes this.

One way to wrestle back control is to take a hard look at our priorities, he said, “to decide what matters.” This does not necessarily mean big career changes or moving from Manhattan to rural Vermont. It can also be figuring out in small, but significant ways how to scale down frantic to manageable.
