All the queen's men on her birthday

Apparently I've been sharing too much of my wuxia and korean men obsession interest. Other than pasting all these pictures over my wall and distracting me from work for the whole day, the 'surprise' was accompanied by the song 'It's Raining Men'.

All my men Posted by Hello

Sometimes bimbotic moments like these have to be treasured. At least it tells me my friends love me for who I am.

Up close and personal Posted by Hello

(Cheek to cheek with all my heroes. Mine are asian looking don capes and semi-skirt looking pants. Especially since they have nice broad shoulders, the skirts form a nice triangular, gives it a nice symmetrical look ;P)

Other pics in Shanghai

Here's the other pictures of Shanghai that I haven't already posted.

After too many bubble teas later...

Still have remnants of lunch beside me beckoning me to finish it up.

So...some updates...

What have I learnt so far? That...

I'm not really Chinese because i speak Engrish and that Singapore is actually very western, so i'm considered a 老外as well.

I get more attention and 'respect' when i speak Engrish. Things actually get done! (oh...only in capitalist establishments, don't even think about worming your way through with civil service in English, they will crush you like a earthworm)

The pressure to get married is very intense here, I shall have to get a second job as a matchmaker. Sometimes parents just want their daughters to marry well, so materialism is not exclusive to singapore yah. Singapore men are just whiners to want maids *tongue in cheek*

Mick Jagger looking guys have equally skinny waif chicks half their age hanging on their arms. Same goes for Indian man with a pony tail and business suit has the same chick too.

Dry humping looks mighty weird when you're just 20cm away from the oblivious caucasian men. Same goes to seeing a 70 year old japanese man dancing to Beyonce's Crazy in Love. Though the latter is a more palatable and interesting sight than the former.

Trees along the French Concession are very beautiful and paris-esque. Houses here do not need pastel looking colours to show off their beauty (think horrendous Hotel 81 at Chinatown).
China people are starting to speak very good english and Shanghai is very cosmopolitan. People who want to catch the dragon should come real soon. The only thing they lack here is the global exposure, but that can too will change in a blink of an eye. They're very determined and most Shanghainese are open to change, so teach and they will polish themselves up. Some...not all.

Every screw up has to be taken with great optimism. It is a fact of life in China - screwups are served in a platter for meals very often.

Starbucks coffee sucks here.

Shoes here come in very ugly pastel colours or fake jewels that make them look oh-so-fugly.

My feet are in perilous danger if I wear heels to work because pavements are not very even and my apartment is 20min walk away from work. But if I wear flats does this mean I have a chance with funny, secure, manly, not-scrawnier-than-me men around my height???

Shanghai men are very scrawny. Most of them anyway. I have witnessed some guys thigh almost as large as my arm. (AND I'M NOT FAT!)

Finally, drinking bubble tea too fast will cause one to risk choking.

Cohabiting with my new love - ah beng

Meet my new love...

Timid ah beng Posted by Hello

This little bugger is waaaaay to scaredy cat. His 胆 is as tiny as him. heee....
Runs back to his little corner at the slightest sound and movements.

He's a very timid hamster so i decided to give him a 'strong' singlish name. it's a china hamster...but conferred a singapore PR by me. by default of a name.
Isn't he koochi-woochi adorable?

Happy Mother's Day

...

Yes yes...I know it was yesterday, but somehow just couldn't finish writing this.
Now we're apart I feel I can tahan her nagginess. But once she launches her queries about whether I've shit today or what time to sleep blah blah blah...Every sliver of doubt in leaving home slams back into the perspective groove. Don't get me wrong. I want to love my parents more not just a reticule one writhes unwillingly into only in times of need (e.g. 'saving' on rent, free food & laundry, out of sense of duty to them). Ironically, only by leaving them now will I love them the way they deserve - unconditionally. Like a kinky suburban housewife waiting for her husband to come back to give her a good spanking, a druggie delaying shooting in his next fix, a child eating all the vegetables on her plate in anticipation of dessert, a homeless man sitting next to a fast food drive through; like me running to the phone when it rings - knowing that at the end of the line is the familiar sound of love.
