Bliss is this...

My niece of 8 months 宇宁 (Yuning) and nephew, 宇祥 (Yuxiang). Meaning the Universe (宇宙) is both quiet (宁) and harmonious (祥). No matter how tired whenever I'm in Singapore I'll never miss to pop by on these two little ones .

Sharing the same space

And so today DL and I signed a 2 year contract to live together

(with meimei of course).

Unphotographable in Shanghai

Trying to avoid bumping into little dwarf people (children) as they cross the road in front of you, forming a human barricade. Then having a little girl notice that you both have stopped for them and saying in cheery english with her toothy smile "sorry!" (after being delightfully observant that your partner is angmoh).

After watching a movie for 150min and while leaving the cinema, realising that one seat away; a rather largish ginger coloured cat had been stuffed into a canvas bag that barely fit it.

Cruel and unusual.

This is as rare as it gets...pink hippos falling out of the sky

Poke. "Look! She looks hot!" as I gestured towards a shapely woman in black gliding through the streets, her long hair and perfect makeup enhanced features. It wasn't just that the way she dressed; it was the way she walked, her soft curls bounced and the way her classic black dress stood out among the multitudes of wrongly matched textures and colours.

The only reply I got was "oh she looks nice".

"No no! Look again, she looks really good!" as I tried fervently to get his agreement.

Then it struck me how strange it sounded that I was trying my best to convince him that another woman was hot. heh.

I learnt to read Mandarin magazines back to back on this trip! Not just browsing pictures hor!

We love Korean food! - Yantai, Shandong

We hunted high and low for this seemingly authentic Korean food (Yantai being in proximity with Cheju islands), it was either that or seafood (being near the sea as well). We had both and were very satisfied for rewarding ourselves after traveled 4 cities in 6 days.

Surprise party

Thank you for the gifts! Very sweet of everyone to plan a surprise dinner. Managed to catch up with some friends (though it would have been better if 1-2 MIA ones turned up) and it's just a good excuse for everyone to have some fun. Thanks for meimei for planning it! Though the first part of the surprise did not quite work out because a friend who could not make it to dinner gave me a heads up the night before. It wasn't hard to put all the pieces together once important clues of "birthday dinner", "what cuisine can you eat and not get bored?" and "I would like to meet you for dinner alone tomorrow at Sake Bar & grill" spring up.

But they did manage to pull off the ultimate surprise! Somehow meimei and DL had been plotting for him to arrive earlier (than intended 10.30pm) for dinner. I couldn't believe it when DL and his full beard grinned as I turned around to see who was tickling me, cannot be! I was the one that changed his flight tickets to the latest possible flight! Apparently, DL kept checking back with the Visa people to ensure they get his parent's visa's done asap and ran to catch the 4.30pm flight. When he texted me to say the flight was delayed by 25min, he was already in Shanghai, on his way to meet me! Sneaky, sneaky people!

Trivia of the day: No airline will be so specific to inform passengers how long the delay will be. So do not be tricked! heee...
