Changes
发觉我来了中国后变了好多. 好多.
Weird.
When you realised you changed without you realising it.
And weirder feeling when realization sets in.
All my words spoken yesterday and the days before that can be changed with tomorrow and the days following.
Our dear hammy...
A week ago, news came that my dear hammy had to be put to sleep because she was suffering from a skin disease. While I was in back home (Singapore) few months ago, another adoptee of my other hammie also passed on due to old age. Extremely tame and pliable, each would lay on her belly and allow people to 'flatten' her out while stroking.
Other than having a very sweet nature, both were extremely greedy. And I leave with this anecdote from a dear friend.
"..Somehow hammie's skin condition just could not get better after taking medicine and having undergone an injection. I thought it was getting better, but somehow after the last time we met, it seemed to take a turn for the worse. As every waking hour, she would continue to scratch herself red and sore. Though strangely enough, she would always stop to eat a fresh lettuce or bean or two, when placed directly in front of her. And once done eating, it is always back to scratching."

Eat more, all the better to eat you later
Somehow when entertaining friends for dinner, thoughts of gingerbread witch repeating 'all the better to eat you later' pops up in my mind. It also brings to mind that if all my friends are fat, it means I will look relatively slim beside them. scheme, plot, scheme.
Cooking is so destressing. Especially when you get to cutting/ slicing, with the blade entering cleanly into the vegetables; there is no room for other thoughts, one has to concentrate hard on not cutting fingers.
Sausage, two mushroom pasta
and of course, who doesn't want to pretend to be as nonchalant as Jamie Oliver to whip up something delish without fanfare. Had my Jamie Oliver-ish moment (heh) with my Pork & Peach dish. Peaches that we picked from Nanhui (where all the sweet & juicy ones come from). What a picture of serenity & poise admist with imaginations of wonderfully high-class farm life and picking peaches for home-cooked delicacies. Heh.

Leftovers from brunch after we just moved in.
Not so little pikelets
And lastly of the cook getting all the attention. And you wonder who gets all the girls *smirk*
Undivided attention for me and not the food or the guy. bwahaha...

Happy 41st Birthday Singapore!
Only other birthday other than my parents' that I remember. So despite all my reservations I decided to join into the Shanghai National dinner celebrations.
fierce patriotism
Dinner was a B. Not B for average, it was for - bad and boring. S and I were trying really hard to be enthusiastic, constantly regretting why we were not at another location having lovely bbq instead. The emcee kept announcing we were on for some 'serious partying'. Errr...only if having red wine running out halfway, cheesy non-authentic ktv songs with China kungfu lyrics and seventh month-like disco lights meant 'serious partying'. It was a peculiar kind of hell, the kind imaginative sadists dream about. Like a worm that slowly eats your brain out and before it finishes with your brain, you hear it squirming and that's the part that drives you insane.

Best job in the world
Right about now, all I want to be is a grape delivery person. Except for that tiny kink which involves me not being able to ride a bike; being able to eat grapes at every traffic light is a delightful task.
